lenscaps 180mm 65mm 100mm and body

Postby gameone » Mon Apr 12, 2010 11:55 pm

HI there,

I now own a fuji gl690 with 65mm 100 and 180mm lenses.
I never got one lenscap with these items, and as far as I've been watching ebay
that's more rule than exception. I really want the front and back caps for all
three lenses and also for the body, in case no lens is attached...
there must be caps that were designed for other equipment that will fit.
I know there have been topics on what alternatives there are, but those topics are
a little fuzzy, and they don't cover al the lenses I own...
plus buying a whole developmenttank just for the cap is quite something...
so hope to get some good advice here!
many thanks allready!

Hi Sam,

As for front caps, you can use any generic "snap on" cap designed for a 72mm diameter lens, like this one. You can find cheap ones on eBay. Original 75mm "push on" Fuji caps also appear from time to time either on eBay or on Keh (in fact, there is one right now).

The problem is for rear caps and body caps, as the Fuji 690 bayonet is not something very commonly encountered and most users tend to save those precious caps. The most problematic are the wide angle lenses rear caps, as these lenses have protruding back elements which need to be protected by a special cap deep enough to accommodate the extra length at the back of the lens. It would be quite difficult to find a good substitute for one. Your best bet is to keep looking on eBay and Keh. Don't forget that you can always buy a lens with caps (just don't overpay), keep the caps and resell the lens for about the same price you paid for it...

Cheers!
