Depuis le temps que je l'ai maintenant et dans la foulée de ma Sportsmatic, autant faire la revue de la tocante que j'aime le plus : la Seiko Skyliner 6100-8000.
J'ai acheté cette montre dans une période où je voulais remplacer ma veille opex de mes 18 ans, un quartz silver. Je suis tombé sur cette Sky sur la baie, j'ai raté l'annonce. L'article fut invendu et à ma grande chance, il fut remis en vente et je l'achetai direct.
Au dela de l'état excellent de la montre et de son bracelet, la réception fut un réel uppercut rétinien, et la reaction des amateurs de vintage du forum me confirma que j'avais eu raison de cliquer. Ce sentiment se transforma en certitude par la suite : j'ai continué à écumer la baie et même partout ailleurs, et je n'ai jamais retrouvé un tel cadran craquelé.
Aujourd'hui, elle fait partie des montres que je porte le plus et malgré son côté habillé, se porte facilement avec n'importe quoi. Le bracelet métal d'origine est d'un confort assez sidérant. A line of Manual watches made in various styles, from classic dress watches to more edgy designs later on, offered during the 1960’s. The Skyliner sub-brand was introduced in 1961 using the 402 caliber. This particular Skyliner is a no-nonsense hand-windable dress watch without date. At the time, the Skyliner sub-brand was positioned as a cheaper alternative to the Liner sub-brand, with Skyliners priced at around ¥6,000 and Liners at around ¥7,500, which was in the medium range of Seiko at the time. The Liner sub-brand also had a broader range with both 21j and 23j calibers and 14K gold cases. The 402 caliber is also a simplification and continuation of the Liner 3140 caliber from 1960. The Skyliner brand was also used in the mid 60s on a few 62XX watches with a quite modern design and in the late 60s on dress watches with the 61XX caliber
